Fluctuations in the Iranian Gold Market

Today, on Friday, February 15th, 2023, at the Iranian Currency and Gold Exchange Center, the price of each US dollar note reached 42,921 tomans, and the exchange rate for dollar transfers reached 39,709 tomans. Furthermore, the price of each euro note was announced to be 46,072 tomans, with a transfer rate of 42,624 tomans at this exchange center. The staggering inflation rate of 38.5% in Iran has caused an outcry among the gold market and its participants, as it has resulted in a 28% growth in gold prices within the society. These figures reflect the bitter truth that despite all the events, gold market players are still incurring losses after a year. Traders in the Iranian gold market believe that the price increase on the sixth day of the week is due to the rise in the dollar price and the bubble in the coin market. On Friday, the Full Spring Freedom Coin was the only gold coin to experience a decrease in price, while other coins saw an increase. The price of gold and the quarter coin bubble also increased. Mohammad Keshvarai, the former vice president of the Tehran Gold and Jewelry Union, stated that in volatile market conditions, decision-making becomes difficult for buyers, and the increase in total prices exacerbates the recession in the gold market.
